How does wireless internet work?

Customer needs a line of site or near line of site to a Tower where available, a new type of equipment can penetrate some trees but at an additional cost.

What if my internet seems slow?

Several things could cause this problem:

  • Computer updating
  • Multiple Users
  • Bandwidth does not meet demand (streaming, gaming, and more)
  • Virus

Where can I run a speed test from my computer?

There are a few speed testing websites.

Does Rural Comm have a referral program?

Yes, existing customer & new customer gets ($10) credit.

Can the weather affect my internet?

Occasionally, heavy snow and rain could cause a slower connection recovery is quick upon subsidence of precipitation.

Can I put my account on hold?

Can my account be turned off?

Yes

  • Nonpayment within 5 days of due date
    • $10 Late Fee
  • Auto Debit or Insufficient funds on account balance or closed account
    • $10 late fee
    • $20 insufficient funds fee
  • Auto Credit-limited to three attempts to run
    • $10 Late Fee
  • Rural Comm will attempt to contract customer to avoid service interruption

Where is equipment installed at my house or business?

Typically, equipment is installed at a location that has a line of site to a Rural Comm tower. Occasionally, a pole will need to be set away from building (at owners expense) to receive signal.

Can I get an email address?

Yes, for a $2.50 monthly fee to current Rural Comm subscribers. For anyone not subscribing to Rural Comm internet service, the fee will be $7.50 per month.

Can I watch Netflix, Hulu, & other providers?

Yes, provided your package speed meets the criteria for that service and HD usage.

Can I get a managed router?

Yes, we can control individual users bandwidth, parental controls to certain sites, and limit time of day usage.

Does Rural Comm charge for service calls?

Yes, excluding the outside radio
We do offer an Internet Service package addon “which covers all service calls, router management\replacement excluding harm caused by third party “.
